Saints Near the Bottom in ESPN’s Preseason Power Ranking

The Dolphins moved under them, so there’s that?

In their first Power Rankings since immediately following the 2017 NFL Draft, ESPN has released their first preseason power rankings (no pay wall, yay!), and the Saints are not doing so hot so far. Coming in at #23, the Saints have actually moved up one spot since the most recent rankings.

We may not get a full glimpse of the Adrian Peterson-Mark Ingram combo in the preseason, but when the duo is unleashed in the regular season, the Saints will likely improve on their 16th-ranked rushing attack from 2016.

So for a team coming in in the bottom third of the league, the blurb from ESPN is actually positive. You wouldn’t know it based off rankings, though, as the Saints are technically the 4th lowest ranked team in the entire NFC (with only the Rams, Bears, and 49ers ranked below them).

Across the NFC South, the Falcons are right behind the New England Patriots at 2nd overall, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are surprisingly three spots above the Carolina Panthers, with the two coming in at 13th and 16th respectively.

In the basement of the rankings are the New York Jets, who keep taking blow after blow, recently losing budding WR Quincy Enunwa to devastating injury.
