Continuing our Training Camp series, we take a look at the impact Ryan Ramczyk could have for the Saints at the Left Tackle position.

“Everyone wants the Dallas Cowboys offensive line, but nobody wants to draft it.” This was repeatedly multiple times by various people leading up to the draft, and following it. New Orleans’ selections of Andrus Peat and Ryan Ramczyk will likely never be considered the “sexy” picks, but they can both prove to fans and analysts they are the right pick.

Peat is on his way to doing that as he looks to solidify the LG position that has been a revolving door for a couple of years. Ramczyk has a tougher task in being asked to fill the shoes of injured LT Terron Armstead. With Ryan seeing his first snaps this past week against the Los Angeles Chargers we’re finally getting a chance to see if he can fill those shoes.

As expected, Ryan’s debut performance against one of the best pass rushing duos in the NFL (Joey Bosa and Melvin Ingram) was a mixed back. He looked strong in run blocking, but got beat a few times in the passing game as well as drawing a couple of flags. In the video below, we go over both college film and tape from this past Sunday’s game.

Also, a note, I dislike cut blocks/chop blocks. I realize one is legal, but I have a tendency to refer to both as chop blocks. Bad personal experiences. Just in case anyone catches that while watching. Thanks for reading everyone. Who would you like to see the next film study done on? Please let us know in the comments section. Who Dat, and God Bless.
