After rumors swirled on early Monday afternoon, it’s now official. The New Orleans Saints have promoted linebacker Adam Bighill to the active 53-man roster.
The move was officially announced by the team just ahead of the game against the Minnesota Vikings. The Saints terminated the contract of offensive tackle Bryce Harris to make room. The team was already going to be without Nate Stupar (hamstring), and had Stephone Anthony dealing with a high ankle sprain. Needless to say, the move did make sense.
Per a source, Bighill’s contributions to the game tonight will be primarily on special teams. However, this fan favorite has a ton of people in New Orleans rooting for him to make a big play or two. The Saints already find themselves needing a win with the Panthers and Falcons both winning their respective games on Sunday.
Facing a short week, so to speak, it will be interesting to see if Bighill stays on the active roster after Week 1.
