The NFC South After Week 2: Yuck

The Saints were the only team in the division to lose.

Coming into Week 2, the entire NFC South played their games at home, with the New Orleans Saints hosting the defending Super Bowl Champion New England Patriots, the Atlanta Falcons hosting Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers, the Carolina Panthers hosting the Buffalo Bills, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosting the Chicago Bears.

So what happened in Week 2?

Only the worst possible scenario.

The Saints were the only divisional team to take a loss this week, taking a beating by the Patriots 36-20. The Falcons and Bucs had beatings of their own, but were on the giving end, beating the Packers and Bears respectively 34-23 and 29-7. The Panthers barely edged out the Bills in a defensive showdown, 9-3, with QB Cam Newton getting injured during the game but able to return.

Next week, the Buccaneers travel North to Minnesota to take on the Vikings, who may or may not be without QB Sam Bradford for another week. The Falcons also head north, going to Detroit to face Matthew Stafford and the Lions. For the Saints, they have their first divisional game against the Carolina Panthers on the road.

The last two weeks have been tough, but it’s still early, and as of now, the Saints have all of their divisional games left to play.

Win, and let’s let the rest of the division take care of itself. #BeatthePanthers
