Arthur Maulet to be promoted to active Saints roster, report says

With injuries plaguing the Saints secondary again, some help is coming in the way of Arthur Maulet.

According to NOLA.com’s Herbie Teope, the New Orleans Saints will be promoting cornerback Arthur Maulet to the active 53-man roster on Saturday to have on hand for their Week 3 matchup against the Carolina Panthers. The corresponding move is unknown.

Maulet, the undrafted rookie from Memphis, was impressive during training camp. The New Orleans native saw 54 snaps through three preseason games after missing the first against the Browns due to an undisclosed injury.

The Saints have been hit hard with injuries to their secondary yet again, and are without Marshon Lattimore (concussion) and Sterling Moore (chest) in addition to Delvin Breaux (leg) being on injured reserve. In addition to Maulet, the team will have P.J. Williams, De’Vante Harris, and Ken Crawley (who should be activated after not appearing in the first two contests).

With a somewhat depleted cornerback group, it wouldn’t be surprising to see Dennis Allen roll with more 3-safety sets with Kenny Vaccaro, Marcus Williams, and Vonn Bell.
