A report swirled early this morning that the Saints were going to promote cornerback Arthur Maulet to the 53-man roster, and the move has gone down according to the NFL’s Transaction Report for Saturday. Maulet, who tweeted that he was activated during the afternoon, is very likely to suit up against the Panthers on Sunday for Week 3 action.
In addition to Maulet being added, the team also brought up defensive back Justin Hardee from the practice squad. In the corresponding moves, the team released veterans Kendall Langford and Darryl Tapp, who were just added this week. Perhaps this is a good sign for Trey Hendrickson, who has been dealing with a knee injury suffered in last week’s game against the Patriots. Of course, with the Saints being depleted in the secondary, it wouldn’t be surprising for them to sit him.
The Saints leave for London on Monday, and veterans like John Kuhn, Darryl Tapp, and Kendall Langford might have to have quick turnaround plans if and when the team calls them up.
