The Saints are back in the postseason for the first time since 2013 and will be hosting their first playoff game since 2011 after clinching the NFC South by virtue of Atlanta beating Carolina.
The Saints dropped their regular season finale in Tampa Bay 31-24 after surrendering a last-second touchdown pass from Jameis Winston to Chris Godwin. Fortunately for the Saints, Atlanta beat Carolina 22-10 securing the Saints’ first NFC South division crown since 2011; Cam Newton was held to 14-34 and 180 yards passing and threw three interceptions in the loss.
Sunday will mark the third contest with the Panthers this season. The Saints swept the season series with Carolina, winning 34-13 in Charlotte in week three and 31-21 week 13 in New Orleans.
