It’s halftime, folks.
The New Orleans Saints trail the Minnesota Vikings 17-0 at the end of the first half. Surprisingly, Sean Payton’s squad is having a worse showing than their Week 1 meeting, and it hasn't been close. The Saints are having their worst showing of the season and the timing couldn't be worse.
The Saints haven’t won a divisional playoff game on the road in their franchise history, tallying a 2-3 lifetime record in this round. Losses include the Vikings (2000 season), 49ers (2011 season), and Seahawks (2013 season). Also against New Orleans is their poor road record in Minnesota, going just 3-13 in the all-time series against the Vikings. Wins came in 2011, 1993, and 1985.
Now the Vikings are close to exorcising demons of their own. They haven’t won a playoff game since the 2009 season, which was coincidentally ended by the Saints. A win sends either team to a date next week in Philadelphia with the Eagles for the NFC Championship game.
