If you’re a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at three/four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results).
Obviously, Saints QB Drew Brees is a safe QB for daily fantasy leagues, but spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
So here are two Saints and two Rams that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from Fanduel.)
QB Drew Brees (NO) - $8,300
After trading for Marcus Peters, much was expected out of the Rams secondary. Much like the Saints secondary, the Rams defensive backs have been largely unimpressive so far this season. In what is expected to be a high scoring affair, Drew Brees is still an incredible value play at $1,100 cheaper than the most expensive QB available in daily fantasy this week.
RB Alvin Kamara (NO) - $8,000
Alvin Kamara comes a whopping $3,200 cheaper than the most expensive running back available this week, he’s likely to be one of the beneficiaries of the Drew Brees passing attack. Sean Payton and the Saints game plan will likely be to get Kamara lined up against a linebacker. In daily fantasy leagues that count points per reception, Kamara could have a huge game on Sunday.
WR Brandin Cooks (NO) - $7,500
We’ve talked about the struggles in the Saints secondary already, and while Cooks will likely be lined up against Marshon Lattimore all game, he’s still likely to get his stats this week. The Saints have consistently struggled against deep passes all year, and Cooks with his 4.4 speed will be the Rams primary deep threat against the Saints. Look for the Rams to force the ball his way against his former team. At $1,400 cheaper than the most expensive WR available, he’s a solid bet to put up big numbers.
WR Cooper Kupp (NO) - $6,500
The other things the Saints secondary has struggled with consistently this season is guarding against opposing slot receivers. Kupp is likely to be the one lined up against PJ Williams, and we saw the Vikings use Adam Thielen in that role all game last week. Kupp, because he’s coming off an injury, comes even cheaper at $2,400 cheaper than the most expensive WR this week.
