The New Orleans Saints have signed veteran wide receiver Dez Bryant, according to multiple reports from various outlets.
Bryant was one of three wideouts working out for New Orleans on Tuesday, as Brandon Marshall and Kamara Aiken were the other two. NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reported that Jeremy Kerley was also due to workout for the team, but got delayed by the weather and was told not to worry about it. Bryant reportedly left New Orleans without a deal on Tuesday night, but both parties were interested. Things went official on Wednesday morning.
The Saints have got a lot of production from Michael Thomas, some 63% of the total wide receiver numbers (880 yards on 70 catches - 1,405 total from the likes of Tre’Quan Smith, Ted Ginn Jr., Cameron Meredith, and Austin Carr).
New Orleans could use Bryant in the slot, and he’d be a very good red zone threat for the team. There’s even a possibility that he could return punts. The Saints have had Bryant, who recently turned 30, on their radar for months, but things died out until recently. Drew Brees would be a good pairing for Bryant, as Bryant never really found his groove with Dak Prescott.
Oh by the way, the Saints take on the Cowboys in just about three weeks on Thursday Night Football.
