The corresponding move needed to make room for new receiver Dez Bryant has been announced, and receiver Cameron Meredith is headed to injured reserve. According to Head Coach Sean Payton, he’ll undergo a knee scope as he’s been dealing with swelling in the knee that was injured in August.
Why Dez now? #Saints HC Sean Payton says Cam Meredith will be headed to IR soon to get a cleanup scope on his knee. Been dealing with swelling. Not bad news expects full recovery but move to come

While Payton did note that they expect him to recover fully it’s unlikely that he’ll return this year. Austin Carr had begun to receive more snaps than Meredith on gamedays and was used in more run blocking opportunities as well. He’s been held without a catch since playing against the Washington Redskins where he had 5 catches for 71 yards.
Meredith’s final 2018 stateline will read as 9 receptions for 114 yards and 1 touchdown, but he did catch 90% of the passes thrown his way. In the brief glimpses the team saw of him healthy he was able to produce efficiently. Now, the team will have to wait until next year to see if he can be a long term positive impact player.
