I’ve been trying to tell everyone to relax we would have no cap problems signing Dez Bryant. The contract details have been reported. Spotrac has his cap hit for this year at $588,235. That is a prorated 1 year deal averaging $1,250,000. According to Ian Rappoport reception incentives can push this to $1,075,000 maximum. Pro-rated he has the chance to make up to 1 mil. Well within our remaining cap space. In fact without incentives Bryant’s contract doesn’t even fall in the top 53, making no hit on our cap.
The #Saints signed WR Dez Bryant to a 1-year deal worth $1.75M max, pro-rated, source said. Bryant can earn $500K in reception incentives in the deal, making it worth up to $1M for the last 8 games.

If you needed to see where Dez Bryant’s head was at, he was offered deals with the Browns and the Ravens. The Ravens deal was a multiple year deal for 21 mil. Bryant wanted a one year show me deal with a real contender. So here we are. WR Cameron Meredith, whose play has been limited by continuing knee issues, has been placed on IR. Bryant brings a cheap, third down and redzone target, addition to the offense. Mr. Bryant also will have the number 88, which was also apparently important to him. Dez may have been incorrectly maligned at the Cowboys for dropped passes. He didn’t seem to have that problem with Tony Romo at the helm. With Drew Brees as his quarterback Bryant will have the chance to prove the drops were a result of an awkward situation involving Dak Prescott. Either way it’s a low risk, high reward signing. Dez Brant will a free agent in 2019.
