If you’re a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at three/four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results).
Obviously, Saints QB Drew Brees is a safe QB for daily fantasy leagues, but spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
aSo here are three Saints and one Buccaneer that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from Fanduel.)
QB Drew Brees (NO) - $9,000
Drew Brees severely injured his MVP chances with his performance last Thursday night. Accordingly, you can look for Sean Payton and the New Orleans offense to be slinging the ball a-plenty to help make up for the lost game. Brees is $800 cheaper than the most expensive QB available in daily fantasy this week (fellow MVP candidate Patrick Mahomes), so look for Brees to outperform Mahomes on value this week.
RB Alvin Kamara (NO) - $8,600
One of the biggest beneficiaries of Drew’s big day is likely to be Alvin Kamara out of the backfield. The Saints UDFA wide receivers struggled mightily last week, so look for Brees to lean on his two most trusted targets. At $800 cheaper than the most expensive RB available in daily fantasy, he’s a solid play.
WR Michael Thomas (NO) - $8,300
The other big name that could be catching passes from Drew Brees all game is Saints WR Michael Thomas. Thomas will look to give the Bucs secondary fits all game, and after having a few quiet games in a row, it’s not likely he has yet another pedestrian performance. At $500 cheaper than the most expensive WR available this week, he could have a monster game.
WR Adam Humphries (TB) - $6,500
Fortunately for the Saints, DeSean Jackson won’t be suiting up for Tampa Bay like he did in Week 1 against the Saints defense. With Marshon Lattimore shadowing Mike Evans, Jackson was wreaking havoc against the Saints #2 CB Ken Crawley. The names and faces have changed (replace Crawley with Eli Apple and Jackson with Adam Humphries), but the results are likely to be similar. At $2,300 cheaper than the most expensive WR available, he could turn out to be a fantasy steal.
WBut the Saints won’t be able to completely shut down the Bucs offense either. .
