Saints Kenny Vaccaro Not in the Saints Future

Sources say the strong safety is not in the teams future plans.

A source tells the Advocate the Saints will not be resigning Kenny Vaccaro.

Kenny Vaccaro a 1st round pick by the Saints in 2013, was an immediate starter haunted by inconsistent play and plagued with injuries. He ended one season with a broke ankle and his 2017 season ending when he went on IR with a groin injury. A 4 game suspension in 2016 for Adderall didn’t help his cause either.

In five years Vaccaro racked up 7.5 sacks and 8 interceptions. He also had 4 forced fumbles and recovered 3 fumbles. Was also credited with 283 solo tackles and 102 assisted tackles. He defended a total of 30 passes. 2015 was the only season he started all 16 games.

He was benched early in 2017 against the New England Patriots, The 1st half of 2017 wasn’t all bad though, with Kenny getting 3 interceptions. Things started going downhill with penalties being the biggest problem. The groin injury which he battled through before being placed on IR probably had something to do with it.

The Saints are in pretty good shape as they took Vonn Bell and Marcus Williams with 2nd round picks in each of the last two drafts. The Saints obviously feel comfortable moving on from Kenny Vaccaro and I can wish him well going into the future. Just please not in the NFL South. I do want to point out we have a history of letting players go and them having impressive careers in other locations.
