The NFL’s ‘legal’ tampering period open for teams on Monday, and there’s some New Orleans Saints rumors to pass along. Two big names are on the team’s radar, as ESPN’s Dianna Russini is reporting the Saints have ‘new’ interest in cornerback Malcolm Butler, and also on the recently released Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

The Saints were heavily involved in Malcolm Butler trade talk with the Patriots last offseason, but nothing ever transpired with him in particular. New Orleans did trade Brandin Cooks to New England in exchange for the 32nd overall pick (Ryan Ramczyk) and the 103rd overall pick (Trey Hendrickson).

As for Rodgers-Cromartie, he was just released by the Giants on Sunday. The soon-to-be 32-year-old veteran tied a career-high in interceptions in 2016 with 6. His departure from New York saved the Giants some $6.5 million in salary cap space.

New Orleans could be eyeing someone for their slot duties, or potentially looking to upgrade their No. 2 cornerback spot.
