Former LSU WR Travin Dural, who spent the 2017 NFL season on the Saints practice squad, broke his humerus (upper arm) today and will have surgery. Dural had made several positive impressions throughout the course of the summer, and had started off training camp strong. He was in the group fighting for reps as a returner as well as his duties as a receiver.

This setback will likely end his 2018 season if the need for surgery is any indication to the severity of the break. Recovery times can range, but a serious break requiring surgery could lead to a recovery process taking months to complete. Such a long time-table to return could see Dural being placed in injured reserve.

While at LSU Dural brought in 100 receptions for 1,716 yards and 13 touchdowns while also contributing as a returner. This injury thins the receiver group a bit, though depth is still considered a strength with players like Josh Huff, Cameron Meredith, Brandon Coleman, Tre’Quan Smith, Keithe Kirkwood and Tommylee Lewis all vying for spots on the 53 man roster. We’ll post more information as we get it.
