Saints Place Patrick Robinson on Injured Reserve

Saints place slot cornerback Patrick Robinson on IR with a broken ankle.

NFL: Arizona Cardinals at New Orleans Saints Derick E. Hingle-USA TODAY Sports

Saints to place slot cornerback Patrick Robinson on injured reserve with a broken ankle, according to a source.

Saints signed Robinson to a four year deal this offseason and was one their top offseason signees.

He went down late in the win in Atlanta when he caught a cut block low and rolled up on his ankle. He was carted off the field and was initially diagnosed as a high ankle sprain. However it was later released that he broke his ankle and will miss a significant portion - if not the entirety - of the 2018 season.

The 31 year old veteran cornerback appeared in three games this season before going down for the season in Atlanta. PJ Williams will most likely take over the slot role, but the Saints will likely look for other options.

Cornerback Sterling Moore is visiting the team today and the Saints, so it’s possible they bring back a familiar face to help fill in.
