Boston Scott headed back to Saints practice squad, report says

NFL: Los Angeles Rams at New Orleans Saints Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Rookie running back Boston Scott has had an interesting 24 hours. After the New Orleans Saints released him yesterday, to the surprise of many, the waiting game started for the waiver watch. Per NFL Network’s Herbie Teope, Scott cleared waivers, and The Advocate’s Nick Underhill is reporting that Scott is expected to sign with the team’s practice squad.

New Orleans enters Sunday’s regular season opener with just two running backs on the active roster, Alvin Kamara and Mike Gillislee, but that’s expected to change. A likely scenario could see Jonathan Williams, who didn’t survive final cuts and re-joined the team on the practice squad, could be promoted.

The Saints running back shuffle saw the team lose Trey Edmunds, who was converted and used as a fullback, to the Pittsburgh Steelers. Mark Ingram is serving a four-game suspension to open the year, and no matter what happens, New Orleans could be throwing a little bit more in their first game.
