The Giants released the talented but troubled cornerback on Friday. The final straw was when he called a fan a retard on social media. He had been in trouble with the Giants in week two after calling out his teammates, and again this month for criticizing defensive coordinator James Bettcher.
Jenkins has also had some troubles with the law. In 2009 Jenkins was arrested for fighting and resisting arrest. He also paid a $316 fine in 2011 for marijuana possession. His nickname is Jack Rabbit.
Janoris was drafted by the Rams in the 2nd round of the 2012 draft and played for them through 2015.
In 2016 Jenkins signed a 62.5 million dollar contract with the New York Giants. In eight years he has played in 113 games staring 109 of them. Has 403 solo tackles and 56 assisted tackles, defended 104 passes, 22 interceptions for 531 yards and 7 touchdowns. He has also caused 6 fumbles recovering 2 of them.
Janoris Jenkins will have a cap hit for the Saints of $1,194,118 in 2019 and $11,250,000 in 2020. If released none of that is apparently dead money according to spotrac.
