Another accolade on the shelf.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees connected with Josh Hill on a simple Y-Leak play for his 540th touchdown pass passing former Colts and Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning. Coming into Week 15 Brees was in a battle with Patriots quarterback Tom Brady to see who would take the record first.
The pass happened on Brees’ 20th straight completion which also set a new personal best.

It seems fitting that Brees breaks the record against Manning’s former team on Monday Night Football. As if that wasn’t enough he went on to push the record farther by connecting with Taysom Hill on a touchdown pass later in the 3rd quarter to extend the record to 541.
The record tying pass came on a 15 yard touchdown pass against Cover 2 up the right seam to Michael Thomas at the start of the 2nd quarter.
Brady sits at 538 touchdown passes with two games remaining in the season to try and catch up to Brees ever-growing lead. The ever competitive Brady indicated on Twitter that he plans to break Brees’ records.
Congrats drew!! Couldn’t be more deserving. Passing Peyton in anything is an incredible achievement and your records will be tough to beat! But it’s worth trying

It seems this record will go to the quarterback who decides to retire last.
