The New Orleans Saints dominating 34-7 victory against the Indianapolis Colts had several elements that deserved praise and uproar Monday. But once it ended the man of the hour was Drew Brees as another couple of NFL records are in his possessions.
The Colts, who came in fighting for a playoff spot in the AFC, were determined to leave everything out on the field. But like several before them who came into New Orleans on prime time television, the atmosphere, history, and what felt like destiny was insurmountable.
If you missed anything from last night’s historic showcase we’ve got you covered with a plethora of reactions from Twitter regarding Brees and NFL History. There’s ton to cover on Saints as a team, and the NFC Playoff race, but we wanted to give the G.O.A.T the spotlight he deserves. Hope you enjoy reliving Drew Brees making history in New Orleans one more time.

Oh Hell Yeah!!!
Congrats drew!! Couldn’t be more deserving. Passing Peyton in anything is an incredible achievement and your records will be tough to beat! But it’s worth trying

Congratulations @drewbrees you are the epitome of excellence! #Truth @Saints

You already know Trequan or Josh Hill getting the record. It’s always some random guy lmao
— Ian (@IanHow33) December 16, 2019
Anyone else have a feeling that tomorrow is going to be one of those games where Drew starts slinging TDs to all the role players like Josh Hill, Taysom Hill and Tre’Quan Smith

What a night for Drew Brees pic.twitter.com/PdqH4I2EvM
#DrewBrees sets the single game completion % record in the same game he sets the all-time TD pass record. Has there ever, in any sport, been as impressive a performance in a career record setting game?
— Max Kellerman (@maxkellerman) December 17, 2019
Sean Payton asked about Brees going 29-for-30. “I’m trying to think of the incompletion. ... He’ll get a minus on that play.”
— Mike Triplett (@MikeTriplett) December 17, 2019
"Brees has more TDs, yards & completions than anybody.... Brees, Brady, Peyton & Favre are the top of the mountain, statistically. But Brees isn't in that class quite yet. The other modern-day all-time greats had a period where they were the best QB in football." — @getnickwright pic.twitter.com/PwTawRsslS

If that was indeed the last regular season home game for Drew Brees in a New Orleans Saints uniform, it was fitting it included a blocked punt on the opponent’s first possession.

Full circle.
#DrewBrees sets the single game completion % record in the same game he sets the all-time TD pass record. Has there ever, in any sport, been as impressive a performance in a career record setting game?

Drew Brees signed with the Saints in 2006 after the Miami Dolphins ended negotiations with him due to shoulder concerns...

Cam Jordan (when asked about Drew Brees breaking records): "I feel like I probably keep taking him for granted. I don't know."
— John Hendrix (@JohnJHendrix) December 17, 2019
Later said, "Another accolade. We're looking for a Super Bowl."
Congrats again Drew Brees, and may you continue to break records and set standards for future and present quarterbacks across the landscape.
