Your New Managing Editor for Canal Street Chronicles is...Me?

You’re kidding, right?

“Wait, they’re really letting me take over?”

“Seriously?!”

“OK, then...”

There you have it. Following a pattern of good decision making in selecting previous managers like Dave Cariello and John Hendrix, SB Nation decided to go a different route and pick someone absolutely terrible for the job. For some unknown reason, the powers that be thought it best to pick me to run the ship here at Canal Street Chronicles. Whether there were no other options, or if I bribed/blackmailed my way to the top, it doesn’t matter - I’m here now.

It’s been a crazy past four years writing at Canal Street Chronicles, and I’ve enjoyed every minute of it. Dave and John each had their own styles of leadership and directions they wanted to take this place, but each were wonderful Managing Editors while they were here. That being said, it’s my turn now to try to take things in a different direction.

I want the steady content from the Hendrix days, but I want the sense of community and engagement never really felt since Cariello left. If you’ll be patient and stick with me, I know we can make Canal Street Chronicles the New Orleans Saints of SB Nation.

Most of the old staff is still here. Coming back are old faces too. Fresh newbies will be joining the CSC roster soon as well.

We’re going to get steady content, immediate analysis, community involvement, and end the heavy-handed lifetime bans.

If you have suggestions on things you’d like to see to make this place bigger and better, please let me know in the comments. I want to make it a point to listen to the comments and feedback and adjust to make you happy. (Just don’t say you want Hendrix to come back. I’ve already tried...he won’t.)

Special thanks to Dave for originally plucking me out of comments to come in and write back in the beginning of 2016. Thanks too to John for thinking enough of me to recommend me for the gig, and to Jeanna Thomas of SB Nation for agreeing with John’s recommendation. Thank-you also to the CSC staff, new and old, for not abandoning ship.

Well, that’s all I’ve got for you. Buckle up, ladies and gents. I don’t know how to drive this thing.
