Details from Latavius Murray's new deal with the Saints.— Josh Katzenstein (@jkatzenstein) March 13, 2019
It's a four-year, $14.4 million deal with $7.2 million guaranteed (all the first two years) and another $1.5 million available in performance incentives.https://t.co/FfoHVJvsgS
So the New Orleans Saints signed Mark Ingram’s replacement before Ingram was officially signed on to another team. Latavius Murray comes to the Saints on a four-year deal, with only the first two seasons containing guaranteed money. Murray is set to make approximately $3.6 million per year on average, which seemed like a steal at the time.
Then Mark Ingram signed with the Baltimore Ravens.
Ingram signs with Baltimore on a three-year deal at a $5 million per year average, after initial reports indicated Ingram was seeking $8 million per year. While we don’t know the details of the guaranteed money, on just average salary per year alone, Ingram would have only cost the Saints $1.4 million more per year.
But money isn’t everything.
Interesting note about new #Saints RB Latavius Murray…— Jeff Duncan (@JeffDuncan_) March 12, 2019
He is actually just 28 days younger than Mark Ingram but because of a redshirt year in college at UCF & as an IR season as a rookie with the Raiders he has three fewer seasons & 422 fewer carries in the NFL.
So that begs the question: who would you rather the Saints have for 2019 and beyond? Murray on a four-year deal at $3.6 per year, or Ingram on a three-year deal at $5 million per? Vote in the poll. Explain in the comments. Send me presents.

Mark Ingram - you can’t put a price on what he brings to the locker room!
Latavius Murray - every dollar counts to a team strapped for cash!
