Don’t ever call Sean Payton a liar again!
As the New Orleans Saints continue to look to add to their roster in the early days of free agency their priorities have become transparently clear.
Two week’s ago at the start of the NFL scouting combine maybe there was a thought head coach Sean Payton was giving lip service when he verbally addressed the Saints offseason needs.
If the first few days have been any indication, Payton was truly a Saint and honest, as NOLA is clearly sticking to the script with zero early surprises. Any wide-receiver addition thoughts can be put on hold for now.
Here’s what Payton listed on March 1st.
Sean Payton listed the Saints needs as defensive tackle, tight end, and interior OL depth. He said running back and quarterback could be needs based on what happens in free agency.

Here’s the action that has taken place so far.
Saints offseason hasn't been too shabby:
— John Hendrix (@JohnJHendrix) March 14, 2019
Re-signed: Lutz, Robertson, Banjo, Tom, Wood, Biegel, Hardee, Bridgewater, Lutz, Crawley (ROFR)
New players: Malcom Brown, Latavius Murray
Lost: Mark Ingram, Alex Okafor, Ben Watson (retirement)
New Orleans has swiftly addressed every concern listed one way or another except two since the legal tampering period started on Monday. So far they’re fitting in quite comfortable next to the dealings of the Saints last two off-seasons, all in a major way.
Also, since perfection is always in reach with Mickey Loomis and Payton, they don’t appear to be done. Remember those two positions that hadn’t been filled yet in the interior offensive-line and tight-end spot?
Here’s that attention you ordered:
The Saints hosted free agent G Nick Easton for a visit, per source. A return to Minnesota is possible, but he has interest elsewhere.

And that’s without mentioning defensive linemen Ezekiel Ansah’s future scheduled visit and Mario Edwards Jr.’s stroll through the big easy Wednesday reportedly.
DL Mario Edwards is visiting the Saints tonight per source.
