Saints vs Rams Week 2 matchup most anticipated in NFL

NFL fans have their eyes on one game all season.

NFL schedules for the 2019 season are officially released. The Saints open the NFL regular season with a Week 1 Monday Night Football matchup against Deshaun Watson, DeAndre Hopkins, JJ Watt, Jadeveon Clowney, and the Houston Texans. They also host the Dallas Cowboys Week 4 for Sunday Night Football, and have their second Thanksgiving game in a row, this time facing the rival Atlanta Falcons in Atlanta.

But it’s the Saints’ Week 2 matchup against the NFC Champion frauds Los Angeles Rams that has many NFL (and Saints) fans licking their chops.

It should come as no surprise then, that when Yahoo! Sports named the 10 most highly anticipated games in the entire NFL season, it was the Saints vs Rams that made #1 on the list:

1. New Orleans Saints at Los Angeles Rams, Week 2

Do we really have to explain why? Hopefully, with new rules in place, this one won’t come down to a pass interference non-call. Too soon, New Orleans?

More than the New England Patriots and Kansas City Chiefs’ rematch in Week 14. More than the NFC North rival Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers kicking off the season in Week 1. More than Jimmy Garoppolo’s first game back from injury. Yes, it is the Saints vs Rams that the NFL cannot wait to kick off.

It should be said that the Saints will not have an easy task traveling out to the west coast on a short week to face the Rams after their Monday Night Football debut, but if the Saints want to hush the nay-sayers, they will need to prove their point that it was the New Orleans Saints who deserved to represent the NFC in last year’s Super Bowl.

You can bet, proponents of the rule change and fans of the Saints are itching to see how the new rules will be used. Likewise, critics of the Saints are sitting on the edge of their seats, waiting for the first opportunity the rule change negatively affects the Saints. Be ready for it.
