Friday afternoon was relatively quiet around the NFL, as the build up to training camp tends to be like that. However, ESPN’s Adam Schefter gave some New Orleans Saints news, as it is being reported that defensive tackle David Onyemata is being suspended for one game due to violating the NFL’s substance abuse policy.

The young up-and-coming interior lineman was cited for marijuana possession in early February, being issued a misdemeanor summons. Per the report broke by The Advocate, deputies seized nearly three ounces of marijuana, cannabis oil, marijuana edibles and hemp powder during a search of his Elmwood apartment.

Onyemata is playing out the final year of his rookie deal, and should be an important part of the the team’s 2019 season with Sheldon Rankins likely to miss some time early in the year. However, this means he won’t be available for the season opener when the team hosts the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.
