There was a lot of promise for Cameron Meredith, but injuries.

The Cameron Meredith experiment is over for the New Orleans Saints, according to Herbie Teope. Per his report, Meredith posted a cryptic post on his personal Instagram account that said, “It’s been fun.” The team lured Meredith away from the Chicago Bears during free agency last off-season as a restricted free agent. He only appeared in six games for the Saints in 2018, but was hardly a factor in the offense.

The Saints have a lot to figure out at the wide receiver position aside Michael Thomas, but players like Rishard Matthews and Emmanuel Butler will now have an opportunity to really crack the final roster. New Orleans will need to get more out of others like Tre’Quan Smith and Keith Kirkwood in 2019, and bank on Ted Ginn Jr. being healthy.

Meredith took a pay cut in March after his original two-year, $9.5 million deal. The cut will save just $900,000 in cap space.
