New Orleans Saints fans are holding their breath following Sunday’s 27-9 defeat at the hands of the Los Angeles Rams. The loss was one thing, but the future of quarterback Drew Brees is where we find ourselves paying close attention to. Brees hurt his thumb on his right throwing hand on a play intended for Jared Cook. Aaron Donald, who was a pretty big force all game, made contact with Brees’ hand that was ultimately incomplete.
Brees never left the sidelines, but things were definitely off. He never returned to action, and Teddy Bridgewater went the rest of the way.

When asked, Brees said that he was unsure as to whether he would play next week against the Seattle Seahawks, and stated that he already got an X-Ray on his hand. Ultimately, he said he would see a specialist in Los Angeles on Sunday to figure out more.
Update: According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Saints are flying to Seattle tonight and Brees will see the specialist on Monday.
“I’m going to get his opinion and see what the next steps are,” Brees said in his post game press conference. Brees added that he was concerned and was hoping it was not too significant.
“I’m hoping for the best and just preparing for whatever the next steps might be according to the evaluation,” Brees said.
