The Saints bring back linebacker Stephone Anthony to the mix.

The Saints welcome back a familiar face, as they sign linebacker Stephone Anthony.

Anthony was a first-round pick of the team in 2015 when they received an extra first rounder form the Seattle Seahawks as part of the Jimmy Graham trade.

Anthony would go on to lead the team in tackles his rookie year and seemed to be the linebacker of the future for the squad, even making the Pro Football Writers Association all-rookie team.

However mental errors and coverage busts doomed his second season in the Big Easy, as he ended the season on injured reserve.

His second season would also be his last in New Orleans, as the team would trade him to the Miami Dolphins for a fifth-round pick at the beginning of the 2017 season. He went on to spend the next two seasons in Miami before becoming a free agent. This offseason he spent time with the Atlanta Falcons and New York Jets.

The signing could indicate bad news for linebacker Kaden Elliss who went down with an apparent knee injury against the Seattle Seahawks this past weekend.

Updated: Kaden Ellis on IR.

Anthony should serve primarily on the special teams unit, where he was utilized in Miami under special teams coach Darren Rizzi, who is now with the Saints in the same position.
