The NFC South heading into Week 1

It’s a clean slate.

NFL: Minnesota Vikings at Atlanta Falcons Jason Getz-USA TODAY Sports

Now it’s time for NFL football games that actually count.

As of now, all four teams in the NFC South stand with an equal 0-0 record. The division is open for the taking by anyone at this point. For the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints finished the preseason with a 2-2 record, ending on a bit of a sour note with a loss against the Miami Dolphins.

The Carolina Panthers also finished 2-2, while the Atlanta Falcons went 1-4 with an extra preseason game, with their only win coming in the preseason’s final game against the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers actually ended up with the best preseason record in the division at 3-1, with their sole loss coming in the first preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

In Week 1, the Atlanta Falcons will travel to the Minnesota Vikings as the only NFC South team to play on the road in Week 1. The Carolina Panthers will host the reigning NFC Champion Los Angeles Rams, with both the Panthers and Falcons games scheduled for a noon CST kickoff. Sunday afternoon, the Buccaneers host the San Francisco 49ers, and your New Orleans Saints will host the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football.

Football is back!
