Saints inactives: Ken Crawley, Austin Carr among those to sit against Texans

New, comment

Little to no surprises for the Saints inactive report in Week 1.

It’s about to go down in the city of New Orleans, as the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is a just moments away from being lit when the Saints and Texans clash on Monday Night Football. It’s the first game of a double-header, with the Broncos and Antonio Brown-less Raiders set to meet later. Before we get there, let’s take a look at the inactive report for tonight’s game.

  • DT Sheldon Rankins
  • DT Mario Edwards Jr.
  • LB Craig Robertson
  • WR Austin Carr
  • DB Saquan Hampton
  • CB Ken Crawley
  • OL Ethan Greenidge

Mario Edwards Jr. (hamstring) did not practice at all this past week, according to the injury report, while Sheldon Rankins (Achilles) is still recovering and won’t likely be in the lineup until Week 5-6. The Saints will also be without David Onyemata, who is serving a one-game suspension, so the depleted interior depth will put New Orleans with three defensive tackles: Malcom Brown, Taylor Stallworth, and Shy Tuttle.

Mitchell Loewen, who the Saints signed to the practice squad recently, was a late addition to the active roster and will play tonight. Wes Horton was cut in a corresponding move.
