CSC’s Fantasy Start/Sit, 49ers vs. Saints: What to do with Michael Thomas

Saints meet battered 49ers as they look to add to win streak

Start: Michael Thomas

Thomas only managed 7.5 points against the Buccaneers last week. However, he did lead the Saints in receptions and receiving yards in a game in which 12 Saints caught at least one pass. The 49ers defense is depleted due to injury and has given up 46+ points to opposing WRs in the last two weeks. Thomas should be treated like a top 5 play this week.

Sit: Jerick McKinnon

The 49ers will be without RBs Raheem Mostert and Tevin Coleman on Sunday, so McKinnon should be the feature back with JaMycal Hasty also in line for some carries. McKinnon should be heavily involved but the Saints are the #2 defense against fantasy RBs, allowing only 14 points per game. With 49ers starting QB Jimmy Garoppolo out, look for the Saints to stack the box and try to neutralize one of the few healthy starters left on the 49ers offense. A touchdown could salvage his scoring total, but do not expect an abundance of yards from McKinnon which makes him nothing more than a deep FLEX play this week.

Start: Saints D/ST

The Saints defense is a unit on the rise as of week 10. Coming off their best performance of the year they meet probably the most banged up team in the NFL. The 49ers will be without five key contributors on offense, including their starting QB as well as their overall best player in George Kittle. The Saints on the other hand, are finally healthy and have been getting to the QB much more with the return of Marcus Davenport and the emergence of Trey Hendrickson. Nick Mullens does not throw a lot of interceptions as the 49ers generally do not try anything exotic on offense, but I would not expect many points from San Francisco in this matchup.
