CSC’s Fantasy Start/Sit, Saints vs. Broncos: why Taysom Hill is worth starting

Saints go out west for mile high showdown

Start: Michael Thomas

The Broncos have been decent against wide receivers in fantasy this year, ranking 14th and allowing only slightly above the league average. Thomas got back on track in a big way last week tallying 104 yards on 9 catches in his first game with Taysom Hill at quarterback. Hill targeted Thomas 12 times last week, relying heavily on the Saints #1 WR to move the ball through the air. I know Thomas’s fantasy owners have been disappointed with his production this year, but I believe the reliance on him in the Taysom Hill led offense will continue against an average Broncos defense.

Sit: Noah Fant

Fant got his sophomore season off to a fast start, but since Week 2, he has not been able to crack double figures. The Saints defense ranks 22nd against tight ends, but this number is very deceiving as the Saints have only allowed 15.5 points to TEs since Week 5, with 11 of those coming in one game against the 49ers. With the Saints defense playing as well as it has in a long time, I don’t see Fant scoring more than 5-6 points on Sunday.

Start: Taysom Hill

Hill threw the ball well in his debut against Atlanta, completing 78% of his passes and not throwing a single interception. The Falcons defense is terrible but Hill’s duel threat capabilities should keep him fantasy relevant in a matchup against the Broncos. The Broncos have been good against opposing QBs recently, holding Derek Carr and Tua Tagovailoa to single digits in their last two games. However, the last time they faced a QB with running abilities similar to Hill’s was Cam Newton in Week 6, who promptly ran for 75 yards and a touchdown. Barring multiple turnovers, Hill should get the yards and a score or two necessary to make him a top 12 option this week.
