If you’re a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results).
Is Saints QB Drew Brees still safe QB for daily fantasy leagues? Even still, spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.
Normally I try to find four players for your daily fantasy lineups from each week’s Saints game, but this week, the pickings are slim. So here is one Saint and two Buccaneers that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from DraftKings)
QB Tom Brady (TB) - $6,900
It’s not necessarily about how good Tom Brady has been, but how badly the New Orleans Saints defense - specifically in the secondary - has played in 2020. The Saints have allowed the 5th-most fantasy points to opposing quarterbacks in 2020, and the Buccaneers offense only continues to add pieces. Antonio Brown has joined an offense that was already headlined by Mike Evans, Rob Gronkowski, Chris Godwin, Ronald Jones, LeSean McCoy, and Leonard Fournette. And as only the 6th-most expensive quarterback availability in daily fantasy this week, you won’t find much better value.
WR Antonio Brown (TB) - $5,500
Speaking of Antonio Brown, he’s expected to play against the Saints this week, and when will you ever find Brown this cheap in daily fantasy? He’s a whopping $2,700 cheaper than the most expensive wide receiver available in daily fantasy this week, and it’s absolutely mind-blowing. With Mike Evans likely shadowed by Marshon Lattimore all game, and Chris Godwin likely to miss this week, Antonio Brown could very well be the #2 wide receiver option in the Buccaneers offense, with a quarterback he already has chemistry with from their brief time together in New England.
WR Michael Thomas (NO) - $6,900
He’s not quite as cheap as Antonio Brown this week, but it’s not often you can find the reigning Offensive Player of the Year and arguably the best wide receiver in the league as only the 8th-most expensive wide receiver in daily fantasy. If you want to talk about chemistry between a quarterback and receiver, look no further than Michael Thomas and Drew Brees who together were able to lead Thomas to break Marvin Harrison’s single season catch record in 2019. A healthy Thomas can taken some of the load off of Alvin Kamara, who missed Wednesday’s practice with a toe injury.
