Week 14 NFL Rooting Guide: Saints have clear path to No. 1 seed, but could use some help with Packers

The Packers have stuck with the Saints all season and own the tiebreaker

The 10-2 New Orleans Saints know what they have to do to get the No. 1 seed in the NFC this season if the Packers win out: Win out themselves. However, with a game against the Chiefs looming in Week 15, they’ll need all the help they can get. The 9-3 Packers beat the Saints early this season, meaning they own the tiebreaker should it come to that.

The Saints have the Eagles on Sunday, which is by no means a gimmee game. With that being said, it’s hard not to look forward and think about the potential of a Chiefs vs. Saints matchup.

Here are the teams you should be rooting for in Week 14 as the Saints square off against the Eagles.

Early games

Minnesota Vikings (6-6) vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (7-5)

If you blinked, you may have miss the Vikings getting to 6-6 while the Buccaneers plummeted to 7-5. They’ve three of their last four since the Saints trounced them on Sunday Night Football. It goes without saying that the Saints would still appreciate some help from the Vikings, but it’s not pressing at this point that the Buccaneers lose.

Late afternoon games

New York Jets (0-12) vs. Seattle Seahawks (8-4)

The Saints got a bit of insulation when the Seahawks lost last week, and they’d certainly take more. With that being said, let’s be realistic. It’s the Jets.

Green Bay Packers (9-3) vs. Detroit Lions (5-7)

Sure, this seems like a longshot. However, a flukey home win from Darrell Bevell isn’t completely out of the realm of possibility. Weird things happen in divisional matchups, so keep an eye on this game while the Saints play the Eagles.
