Drew Brees expected to start for the Saints on Sunday against the Chiefs

New Orleans Saints starting quarterback Drew Brees is expected to take the field and start against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday afternoon according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. In a matchup with the Kansas City Chiefs that is already being touted as a potential Super Bowl matchup, the news of having Brees back gives the Saints the best shot at winning this game.

Brees has missed the last four games with an injury that included 11 rib fractures and a collapsed lung. The 41-year-old last saw action during the Week 10 matchup against the San Frnacisco 49ers. He pulled himself from the game at halftime after leading two touchdown scoring drives with his injuries.

This game will now feature two of the best quarterbacks in the league as Brees and Patrick Mahomes will take the field opposite of each other in what could be a shootout for the ages. Brees offers New Orleans the best chance at winning this game and his return should bolster the offense and give a much needed morale boost to a team who dropped a heartbreaker in Philadelphia last weekend.

Nick Underhill of NewOrleans.Football spoke all week about how the team has been planning and practicing as if Brees would get the start. It has also been reported that the team has known all week that Brees would get the start but that information was kept under wraps. This should give fans some ease knowing that the medical clearance the team was wanting on Brees was likely given early in the week. Brees should be at nearly 100% heading into the game.
