NFL Picks Week 16: Dome Alone

The NFL playoff picture is coming into focus, and we only have two more weeks to go.  Let’s take a look at all of the Week 16 action this Christmas!

Wild Card Round - Minnesota Vikings v New Orleans Saints Photo by Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

The New Orleans Saints host the Minnesota Vikings on Christmas Day. Neither team wants the lump of coal that would be a loss this Christmas. We will see which team has been naughty and which has been nice. The Saints are stinging from two-straight losses, but the last time that happened this season the Saints reeled off nine-straight victories. We would all be overjoyed to see the Saints win six-straight starting here.

We will see what traps the Saints have set out in the Superdome this Christmas to thwart those devious thieves from Minnesota. On a holiday normally dominated by the NBA, the Saints and Vikings stand alone in the Superdome on the NFL schedule, looking to provide some holiday cheer for the home fans. There will be no greater gift than the Saints winning this game to earn their fourth-consecutive NFC South Championship!

Lets take a look at this matchup as well as the rest of the Week 16 NFL schedule this Christmas!

Last week I went 12-4

I told you so: Chiefs over Saints.

What do I know: Rams over Jets?!

WEEK 16

Friday, December 25th - Christmas Day NFL Special

Vikings(6-8) at Saints(10-4)

The main objective for the Saints is clear: Stop Dalvin Cook. Of course, that is easier said than done. The Saints, outside of Philly, have been excellent at stopping the run, but Dalvin Cook has been a problem for them and this problem must be solved to secure victory. This one will come down to who wins in the trenches. The Saints must, and will, dominate along the offensive and defensive lines. Giving Drew Brees crucially needed time on one side, and harassing Kirk Cousins all game long on the other.

If you are looking for a hero to be the star this Christmas, look no further than Latavius Murray, who will have a huge game on the ground for the Saints grinding down the Vikings defense for his most notable game of the season. Like most games in this rivalry, this game won’t come easy, but the Saints will prevail in a Christmas Day nail-biter. With this win, the Saints will make this a very Merry Christmas for us all. Saints win 26-23.

Pick: Saints

Sunday, December 27th - Early Games

Colts(10-4) at Steelers(11-3)

The pressure rests on the arms of veterans quarterbacks Ben Roethlisberger and Philip Rivers against two of the AFC’s best defenses. Both teams are battling to win their respective divisions and this one will be a war. Ultimately, a late interception by Rivers will secure victory for a reeling Pittsburgh team that knows they cannot afford to lose their final two games after losing three-straight. Pittsburgh wins 28-24.

Pick: Steelers

Falcons(4-10) at Chiefs(13-1)

Patrick Mahomes and the KC passing attack will move the ball at will against the Atlanta defense. Kansas City wins 35-17.

Pick: Chiefs

Bears(7-7) at Jaguars(1-13)

Jacksonville won't do anything to jeopardize their winning ticket to the Trevor Lawrence sweepstakes. Chicago’s playoff hopes stay alive, clinging to life support for another week. Chicago wins 25-14.

Pick: Bears

Bengals(3-10-1) at Texans(4-10)

Pick: Texans

***

Giants(5-9) at Ravens(9-5)

One of these teams is playing to win their division title, the other is not. The Giants’ division title hopes hit a wall against the wrong opponent in this spot. Baltimore wins 28-21.

Pick: Ravens

Browns(10-4) at Jets(1-13)

Cleveland slices through the Jets with ease, on the way to their biggest game in decades, next Sunday Night against Pittsburgh. Cleveland wins 42-10.

Once again, Los Angeles will pull defeat from the jaws of certain victory somehow. Denver wins 25-21.

Pick: Broncos

Eagles(4-9-1) at Cowboys(5-9)

Inexplicably, the Dallas defense will have their best game of the season, dominating Jalen Hurts and knocking Philly out of the NFC East race while keeping their own eyes on the title. Dallas wins 26-10.

Pick: Cowboys

***

Rams(9-5) at Seahawks(10-4)

Sean McVay simply has Pete Carroll’s number, and he will lean on his top-ranked defense to lay claim to the NFC West title. Los Angeles wins 29-20.

Pick: Rams

Sunday Night Football

Titans(10-4) at Packers(11-3) - Game of the Week

Derrick Henry will have an absolutely monster night at Lambeau, rushing for 250 yards against the suspect Green Bay run defense. Will it be enough? Unfortunately, no. Aaron Rodgers will lead the Pack to a game-winning touchdown in the final seconds, securing homefield advantage and the lone first-round bye to the Packers. Green Bay wins 35-34.

Pick: Packers
