College prospects for Saints fans to watch: Week 14

With another exciting week of college football ahead, here are five NFL Draft prospects to watch in Week 14.

1) Ty Fryfogle (WR) - Indiana Hoosiers

Indiana is making noise this season. The 12th-ranked Hoosiers are 5-1 with their only loss coming in a tough battle against No. 4 Ohio State. Indiana fell 42-35, but Fryfogle’s performance helped keep things so close.

Fryfogle hauled in seven catches for a game-high 218 yards and three touchdowns against the Buckeyes. This was his second-straight game reaching at least 200 yards as he racked up 11 catches for 200 yards and two touchdowns against Michigan State.

Fryfogle has without a doubt been the Hoosiers go-to receiver. The senior is now up to 33 catches for 652 yards and 7 touchdowns on the season and looks to have another big game against No. 16 Wisconsin, whose top cornerback just opted out of the rest of the season.

2) Tarron Jackson (EDGE) - Coastal Carolina

Jackson is a master at getting to quarterbacks. He first burst onto the scene in his junior season when he racked up 10 sacks, 60 total tackles, 13 for loss, two forced fumbles and two passes defended.

Now in 2020, Jackson is on pace to set new career-highs across the board. He’s recorded 8.5 sacks, 44 total tackles, 12.5 for loss and 3 forced fumbles through nine games this season.

Jackson was named to the Preseason All-Sun Belt First Team and accepted his invitation to the Reese’s Senior Bowl. Projected as a mid-round selection, Jackson could prove to be one of the draft’s top sleeper picks.

3) Anthony Schwartz (WR) - Auburn Tigers

Auburn’s offense would be scary if quarterback Bo Nix could get his act together. Nix got off to a rough start to 2020 with three interceptions in the Tigers season opener against South Carolina and two in his most recent showing against No. 1 Alabama.

Schwartz is a serious deep threat in an offense that does not like to throw deep. Auburn’s offensive line is banged up, so Nix will not have the protection needed to look for Schwartz down the field.

While his stats aren’t eye-popping, Schwartz’s talent alone has kept him in the conversation of being a Day 2 selection in the draft. He is widely considered the fastest player in college football and could potentially break the NFL Combine’s 40-yard dash record (4.22). Schwartz will look to improve his stock against No. 5 Texas A&M on Saturday morning.

4) Rodarius Williams (DB) - Oklahoma State Cowboys

A projected Day 2 selection, Williams got off to a blazing start this season. He was targeted seven times in OSU’s first two games and recorded five pass breakups without allowing a single yard in coverage.

Williams forced the same number of incompletions (9) on his first 21 targets as he did on 72 targets in 2019, according to Pro Football Focus. He also allowed a mere 31.3 completion percentage when targeted through the Cowboys’ first three games.

Rodarius is a redshirt senior and the younger brother of Cleveland Browns cornerback Greedy Williams. Williams will be 25 as a rookie in the NFL, but his knowledge and experience at the position is what allows him to stand out.

5) Kellen Mond (QB) - Texas A&M Aggies

Mond has already left his mark on the college football world. He is Texas A&M’s all-time leader in passing yards (8,952), passing touchdowns (68), completions (741), attempts (1,277) and total offense (10,405).

Mond’s best performances this season came against two top-5 teams. He threw for 318 yards and three touchdowns in the Aggies’ season opener against No. 1 Alabama and torched No. 4 Florida’s defense for 338 yards and three touchdowns the following week.

Mond’s performance against LSU was one of the worst in his career, but he’ll try to put it past him against Auburn. The Tigers defense has been stout but if Mond can bounce back with a solid performance then his draft stock will certainly improve.
