Back to Love in NFL.com’s recent mock draft

Another day, another mock draft.

Are we copying Mel Kiper at this point or is this a legitimate possibility? NFL.com has recently released their 3-round mock draft, and the New Orleans Saints are linked yet again to Utah State Quarterback Jordan Love:

School: Utah State | Year: Junior (RS)

Sean Payton likes to make big trades in the first round, and it would not shock me if the Saints gave up future picks to move up for a quarterback this year. Love might be a target for Payton, as the young passer’s skills could be honed behind Drew Brees for a year if the NFL’s all-time leading passer returns.

This was a 3-round mock, and if you recall, the Saints do not have a second round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, trading that pick last year to move up and select Erik McCoy to be their starting center.

Interestingly, the Saints could have very easily selected a wide receiver to compliment Michael Thomas with the 24th pick in NFL.com’s mock draft. A run of receivers didn’t begin until the second round. Tee Higgins (Clemson) went 33rd overall to the Cincinnati Bengals, Laviska Shenault, Jr. (Colorado) went 35h overall to the Detroit Lions, and Justin Jefferson (LSU) went 48th overall to the New York Jets.

In the third round, the Saints opted for Florida State CB Stanford Samuels III 88th overall. Of potential interest, LSU’s TE Thaddeus Moss went 98th overall to the New England Patriots and QB Jalen Hurts of Oklahoma went 104th overall to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

What do you say, Who Dat Nation? Are you a fan of this mock draft?
