A healthy Alvin Kamara is ready to dominate your fantasy leagues again: It’s geaux time!

For Saints fans and many fantasy owners, Alvin Kamara’s 2019 season was one to forget. Going as a consensus top 3 pick, injuries and split touches stopped Kamara from meeting his lofty expectations. During the season, Saints fans asked themselves what was plaguing him, but now we have an answer.

A new report from Kamara clarifies his injury status and bodes well for his 2020 outlook. Kamara replied to a post from the NFL’s twitter that showcased some of his highlights from the 2019 season by saying: “On 1 leg...At 75%...but we back to 100.”

Dynasty owners and fantasy owners preparing for 2020 can breathe a sigh of relief. After suffering a high-ankle sprain against Jacksonville and battling knee issues throughout the season, Kamara affirms that he is now at full strength. Furthermore, Kamara will have added extrinsic motivation as 2020 is the final year of his rookie contract.

Kamara’s 2019 season can be thought of as an anomaly for fantasy owners. The Tennessee product failed to produce top 4 non-ppr production for the first time in his career. He also set career lows in forced missed tackles per carry and touchdowns. As for 2020, his yards per touch reliability makes him an RB1 in all formats, barring injury. While Kamara’s usage saw a decrease in 2019, his 2020 outlook is promising.

The Saints will face 6 teams in 2020 that ranked in the bottom 10 against running backs in 2019. The Saints also return the #1 run blocking offensive line, per NFL Outsiders (assuming someone comparable comes in to replace Andrus Peat if not Peat himself). Kamara presents matchup issues for both zone and man-heavy defenses, keeping him in the must-start tier.

He currently ranks as my RB6 and my 9th overall pick for 2020. The ceiling for Kamara also remains limitless due to the return of Drew Brees and the team’s commitment to running the ball on early downs. In fact, an additional year on arm of Brees likely forces the Saints to lean that much more on Kamara and the ground game.

With the Saints super bowl window in question, expect a reinvigorated Kamara to bring fantasy owners (and of course Saints fans) their desired production.
