The New Orleans Saints traded up with the Minnesota Vikings to grab Dayton tight end Adam Trautman with the 105th pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. The Saints traded away 130, 169, 203, and 244 in order to move up.

It was an absolute surprise that a talent like Trautman was still available at 105 and New Orleans gave up the rest of their 2020 picks in order to grab the versatile tight end. Our own Andrew Bell pegged Trautman as a sleeper in this year’s draft. With a lack of roster space, it makes sense for New Orleans to give up current draft capital in order to add impact players. Our own Ross Jackson had Trautman ranked as his top tight end in this year’s draft.
New Orleans made a significant splash in Day 2 of the 2020 NFL Draft. The Saints have taken the “best player available” approach this year, and when Trautman was still available at 105, New Orleans was not afraid to go get their guy.
