Hours after the 2020 NFL Draft concluded, the biggest story of the New Orleas Saints offseason dropped.
Charles Robinson of Yahoo Sports broke the news on twitter:
Sources tell Yahoo Sports the #Saints are finalizing a 1-year deal with free agent QB Jameis Winston. New Orleans hopes to continue maximizing Taysom Hill's versatility on gameday while mitigating some risk in exposing Drew Brees' backup to injury.

Winston who wasn’t resigned by Tampa Bay after five years when the Buccaneers went in a different direction signing Tom Brady early in the offseason.
Per the report, the team envisions a competition for the back up role between Taysom Hill and Winston. If not, Hill may continue his role as the “Swiss-army knife” even after the Saints traded up into the seventh round to draft Tommy Stevens, another do-it-all quarterback who has been compared to the former.
The one-year deal figures to be at an affordable rate once completed as it didn’t seem that Winston had many suitors clamoring for his services.
Updates to come as more details are reported.
