Question marks surrounded New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara coming into the 2020 season. Would his contract issues get in the way of his play? Were his 2019 struggles and injuries truly behind him?
After an odd offseason and no preseason games to speak of, Saints fans are getting their first extended look at the newly extended running back. His play against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was efficient and gave New Orleans two touchdowns on the night.
However, Kamara looks like a completly different beast tonight against Las Vegas. His classic shiftyness, athleticism and additional yards after contact have been on full display. He really is looking like his former self that fans became accustomed to in the 2017 and 2018 seasons. Look at this 21 yards run for example:
At the time of writing Kamara already has 55 rushing yards and one of the two touchdowns scored by the team. With Michael Thomas out due to a high ankle sprain, Kamara looks poised to assume a larger role in the passing game and his work tonight has been impressive.
Just one more angle of this vintage Kamara run:
It’s Alvin’s world, we are all just living in it.
