— New Orleans Saints (@Saints) September 26, 2020
With the absence of wide receiver Michael Thomas the Saints have promoted wide receiver Bennie Fowler to the active roster. Fowler was a favorite of QB Drew Brees in camp who spoke highly of him. This is probably why he made the practice squad. The practice squad was increased to 16 players this year in response to Covid-19. Defensive end Margus Hunt was also moved to the active roster. Hunt blocked a fieldgoal late in the first half of the game against the buccaneers.
Center/guard Will Clapp was waived and running back Ty Montgomery was sent to injured reserve. Ty Montgomery first appeared on the final injury report with a hamstring injury. With the 2020 reserve rules Montgomery can return after four games. The moves were announced by Mickey Loomis on Saturday.
