3 daily fantasy players from Week 17: Saints at Panthers

Three players for your daily fantasy lineups.

If you’re a daily fantasy player, before each game I will look at four players from the New Orleans Saints and their opponent’s rosters that I would target in daily fantasy (based off their value and potential results).

Is Saints QB Drew Brees still safe QB for daily fantasy leagues? Even still, spending your money on a top-tier starting QB leaves you scraping the barrel to fill out the rest of your roster.

Normally I try to find four players for your daily fantasy lineups from each week’s Saints game, but this week, the pickings are slim. So here are two Saints and one Panther that provide the most bang for your buck. (Values from DraftKings)

QB Latavius Murray (NO) - $5,600

Will Latavius Murray have a six-touchdown performance this week like Alvin Kamara last week? Of course not. But Murray also costs $3,900 cheaper and the Saints should be cautious with Kamara as they head into the postseason. The Panthers rush defense allows the 3rd-most fantasy points to opposing running backs in the NFL, but Saints should be able to find success in the run game with Murray instead of having to rely on Kamara all afternoon.

WR Emmanuel Sanders (NO) - $5,500

The Saints are still going to be without Michael Thomas for one final week of the regular season, and that means Emmanuel Sanders will be Drew Brees’s go-to option in the passing game - especially if Alvin Kamara plays sparingly. At $3,700 cheaper than the most expensive wide receiver available in daily fantasy this week, he’s one of the better bargain plays in all of football.

WR Robby Anderson (CAR) - $5,600

Make no mistake about it: I expect the New Orleans Saints to beat the Carolina Panthers this week. But at the same time, I also expect the Panthers to at least put up decent amounts of offense, if only late in garbage time. With no Christian McCaffrey, and with McCaffrey’s top backup in Mike Davis injured, the Panthers could struggle in the running game, meaning downs of dropback attempts for one Theodore Bridgewater, Jr. Passes might get picked, Bridgewater might get sacked, but Anderson should still see plenty of targets.

My full daily fantasy lineup this week:

QB: Tom Brady (TB) - $7,200

RB: Latavius Murray (NO) - $5,600

RB: Jonathan Taylor (IND) - $7,400

WR: Emmanuel Sanders (NO) - $5,500

WR: Jamison Crowder (NYJ) - $5,000

WR: Robby Anderson (CAR) - $5,600

TE: Robert Tonyan (GB) - $5,000

FLEX: Melvin Gordon (DEN) - $5,700

DST: Seahawks (at 49ers) - $3,000
