This Sunday the Green Bay Packers are set to host the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the NFC Championship game. For New Orleans Saints fans who will still watch the game just because they enjoy watching football, this presents a bit of a conundrum. Who do you wind up cheering for?
Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The case for:
What’s another ring for Tom Brady at this point? All things considered, he seems like a decent enough dude. He threw a touchdown pass to Drew Brees’s kids after last week’s game for Pete’s sake! If Brady has 6 rings, 7 rings, or 11 rings, it doesn’t really change the hierarchy of the NFL’s greatest quarterbacks. If Aaron Rodgers wins another Super Bowl, it will just add more talking heads to those who put Rodgers above Brees when discussing the all-time greats.
And hey, if Brady wins, maybe he decides he has nothing left to prove - owning the NFL’s all-time touchdown record and having won a ring without Bill Belichick - and retires. That could severely hurt Tampa’s chances in 2021, so maybe that ends up being worth it in the long run.
There’s also no shame in losing in the postseason to the team that goes on to win the Super Bowl. It took the Super Bowl champions to end your season? A loss by the Buccaneers probably makes the Saints’ loss look that much worse.

But if Brady wins with the Bucs, that means we have to hear about it all year next year because the Buccaneers are in the same division. That also means Tampa Bay will become the first team in the division to have won multiple Super Bowls, doing so before the Saints could win their second.

So at the end of the day, which team are you pulling for on Sunday? Vote in the poll. Explain in the comments. Send me presents.
