Saints sign kicker Brian Johnson, per reports

Saints add another kicker after Cody Parkey has been placed on IR

NCAA Football: Virginia Tech at Pittsburgh Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

The New Orleans Saints are onto their fourth kicker of the season after signing Brian Johnson to the 53 man roster from the Bears. Johnson joins Brett Maher, Aldrick Rosas, and Cody Parkey as the Saints kickers this season. With Wil Lutz still nursing his injury they move to a UDFA Kicker out of Virginia Tech.

Brian Johnson will be on the Saints 53-man roster for the next three weeks at least. It is a league rule if you sign a player from another team's practice squad he must stay on the 53-man roster for a minimum of three games. Lutz could still return in that timetable and reports are saying he's getting closer, but not ready yet.

The rookie out of Virginia Tech had a very successful college career. He was a 76.1% kicker and hit all 131 PATs without a miss in college. PATs have seemed like a struggle at times for the Saints, but Johnson looks to come in and fix that problem.
