On Halloween, the Saints delivered a game that tasted like a Sour Patch Kid or a Warheads candy, bittersweet. The Saints beat Tom Brady and the division rival Buccaneers for the 3rd straight time in the regular season, but lost starting quarterback Jameis Winston to a torn ACL. Once again, it looks like it will be Taysom Hill starting at QB as soon as he can return from the concussion protocol. The high-scoring game was surprisingly low scoring from a fantasy perspective, as only three players scored over 15 points, but one performance stood out above all three.
STUD: Saints D/ST
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers entered Week 8 allowing the 2nd fewest fantasy points to D/STs. The Bucs offense had actually not allowed a single point entering the Superdome, as D/STs that have faced them prior had combined for -6 fantasy points. The Saints D/ST scored 12 points this week, their second straight double digit performance. They sacked Brady three times and picked him off twice, returning one for a touchdown, and also had one fumble recovery, one fewer than they should have too. This D/ST is special, and does not have a difficult schedule ahead. They are shaping out to finish in the top 3 at their position.

dud: Leonard Fournette
This wasn’t much of a surprise given that the Saints defense was ranked fourth against fantasy RBs, but it still would have been nicer to see a bit more from Fournette this week given his volume. The New Orleans native had been on a tear lately, scoring 15+ points in his previous four games. The Saints run defense remains one of the best in the league however, and Fournette was bottled up and became a non factor as the Bucs fell behind early. The good news for Fournette owners is he is clearly ahead of Ronald Jones II in the offense this season, and should be a solid play any time he isn’t facing a stout defense like the Saints.
