This is obviously huge and heart-breaking news for Michael Thomas, the Saints, and their fans.
Stay tuned for additional details.
ORIGINAL STORY:
The New Orleans Saints were reportedly trying to acquire a wide receiver before yesterday’s trade deadline, but to no avail. This morning, we learn of possible added motivation.
Wide receiver Michael Thomas, the 2019 Offensive Player of the Year, who has spent all of the 2021 season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list after an ankle surgery, has had a new, additional ankle injury.
FROM @GMFB: #Saints WR Michael Thomas has a new issue with his ankle that necessitated an appointment with a specialist recently, sources say. His return date off the PUP list is unpredictable. This is why New Orleans tried to trade for a WR yesterday. pic.twitter.com/dJNXlr3YH3

In light of these news, it is reportedly “unpredictable” when Michael Thomas is going to be activated off the PUP list. At this point, Saints fans can only cross their fingers and how Thomas’s return to the field in 2021 is still just a matter of “when” and not “if.”
