Unfortunately for Saints fans everywhere, beyond just not winning the Super Bowl themselves, they had to watch the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Lombardi trophy in their home stadium.
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the then-defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, by a final score of 31-9, a 22-point victory.
Of note, the Saints beat these same Buccaneers 38-3 late in the season, a 35-point margin, so of course Saints fans everywhere handled with this class and dignity, right?
You know better.
Here are some of #SaintsTwitter’s best reactions.
I'll say it: I 100% would prefer to be watching the Super Bowl on Nickelodeon right now.— Maddy Hudak (@MaddyHudak_94) February 7, 2021
Not watching the SB either https://t.co/wNI2eBySzt— Christopher Dunnells (@ChrisDunnells) February 7, 2021

I just realized Blaine Gabbert is going to get a Super Bowl ring.— ProFootballTalk (@ProFootballTalk) February 8, 2021
The #Saints were the one thing capable of keeping Brady from a 7th ring in 2020 and they failed America. They should apologize— Ralph Malbrough (@SaintsForecast) February 8, 2021
Tom Brady just went through Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes to win this 7th Super Bowl ring. Epic.— Jeff Duncan (@JeffDuncan_) February 8, 2021
I’m happy for all the true Tampa fans out there, they both deserve it.— S⚜️even M (@StevenMcElveen) February 8, 2021
Can Brady go ahead and retire now, please?— Christopher Dunnells (@ChrisDunnells) February 8, 2021
2020 deserved a Superbowl like this one— Mason Ginsberg (@MasonGinsberg) February 8, 2021
This is much easier to accept than ‘15 Panthers or ‘16 Falcons would’ve been. This wasn’t earned as much as it was paid for with the use of mercenaries. It’s definitely more Tom’s title than Tampa’s.— Wallace Delery (@WallaceDelery) February 8, 2021
Bucs won congratulations. BUT Now get ready to get yall shit kicked in even harder this year 2020 season over now !!!— Ceedy Duce. (@CGJXXIII) February 8, 2021
Put it this way: Every Bucs player that scored a touchdown yesterday played somewhere else (or not at all) last season. https://t.co/c9aPXWFN9A— Christopher Dunnells (@ChrisDunnells) February 8, 2021
Man I want that championship feeling and to become one— Justin Hardee Sr. (@jhardee_19) February 8, 2021
