The New Orleans Saints once again came up short in their quest for a second Super Bowl in franchise history.
Unfortunately for Saints fans everywhere, beyond just not winning the Super Bowl themselves, they had to watch the division rival Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Lombardi trophy in their home stadium.
Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers defeated the then-defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, by a final score of 31-9, a 22-point victory.
Of note, the Saints beat these same Buccaneers 38-3 late in the season, a 35-point margin, so of course Saints fans everywhere handled with this class and dignity, right?
You know better.
Here are some of #SaintsTwitter’s best reactions.

I'll say it: I 100% would prefer to be watching the Super Bowl on Nickelodeon right now.

I just realized Blaine Gabbert is going to get a Super Bowl ring.

The #Saints were the one thing capable of keeping Brady from a 7th ring in 2020 and they failed America. They should apologize
— Ralph Malbrough (@SaintsForecast) February 8, 2021
Tom Brady just went through Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes to win this 7th Super Bowl ring. Epic.

I’m happy for all the true Tampa fans out there, they both deserve it.

Can Brady go ahead and retire now, please?
— Christopher Dunnells (@ChrisDunnells) February 8, 2021
Sincerely,
The NFL
2020 deserved a Superbowl like this one

This is much easier to accept than ‘15 Panthers or ‘16 Falcons would’ve been. This wasn’t earned as much as it was paid for with the use of mercenaries. It’s definitely more Tom’s title than Tampa’s.

The #Chiefs open as the favorites to win Super Bowl LVI with the #Packers and #Buccaneers right behind them, according to @SBD. pic.twitter.com/pGP3bdneFw

Put it this way: Every Bucs player that scored a touchdown yesterday played somewhere else (or not at all) last season. https://t.co/c9aPXWFN9A
